Another great learning video on leadership from MIT, this is about 50 minutes long and entitled Leadership Amidst Crisis. Here’s the short text intro:

In thirty years, S. D. Shibulal has seen his share of economic crises, three to be exact. But in thinking hard about the role of crises in the future for today’s students, he predicts: they will occur more frequently, and will be less predictable, longer lasting and more costly.

Within this framework, Shibulal sets out to share his experience and wisdom on this issue with hopes of inspiring the next generation of leaders to not fear crises, but to embrace them and use them to learn and grow. He details three main themes for survival: accept reality, practice learned optimism, and lead by example.

We’re going to focus on some free learning resources related to psychology, for the next while, so stay tuned. First up is The Origin of the Human Mind video lecture.

In this streaming UCTV video Lecture, cognitive scientist Martin Sereno gives us a survey of the brain’s evolution. With thorough visual aids, Sereno examines the difference between the human brain and that of other species, showcasing experiments he has conducted that have helped broaden our understanding of the physical mechanics behind human thought. The biggest question he poses is why our minds are so special, when organically the human brain is 99% similar to that of the primates. Learn why size doesn’t matter when it comes to brain power!
